Call on the UK Government to condemn the shelling, demand humanitarian access, and protect civilians under siege in Aleppo, Syria.

On 6th October 2025, forces affiliated with the Syrian Interim Government (SIG) and paramilitary groups launched heavy artillery attacks on the neighbourhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh in Aleppo, Syria.

Dozens of civilians were wounded, and the areas remain under siege, with roads blocked and essential aid cut off.

This is a serious violation of international humanitarian law. Civilians — including children, older people, and the sick — are being denied access to food, water, and medical care.

Why this matters

The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) were among the most effective and trusted partners of the international coalition — including the United Kingdom — in the fight against ISIS. Their sacrifices were instrumental in liberating communities from extremist control and advancing regional stability.

It is therefore deeply alarming that civilians in areas associated with those same forces are now facing siege and bombardment. We must not remain silent while those who stood alongside the international community against terrorism are left isolated and under attack.
