Lloyd Russell-Moyle

Lloyd Russell-Moyle is a British politician and former Labour and Co-operative MP for Brighton Kemptown (2017–2024), recognised for his strong advocacy on Kurdish rights and democratic representation.

As Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Kurdistan in Syria and Turkey, he led parliamentary efforts to highlight the repression of Kurdish communities, particularly in Turkey, where he condemned the targeting of elected officials from the pro-Kurdish HDP party.

Russell-Moyle has visited Rojava in northern Syria to engage with Kurdish-led democratic initiatives and has supported campaigns such as “Freedom for Öcalan,” advocating for the release of imprisoned Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan.

He has also spoken out against the historical and ongoing marginalisation of Kurds, urging the UK to support Kurdish self-determination and to hold allies accountable for human rights abuses.
