President Masoud Barzani of the Kurdistan Democratic Party welcomed our delegation with warmth and gratitude, highlighting the strong ties between Kurdistan and its international partners. The delegation praised the Kurdistan Region for its impressive stability, ongoing development, and its deeply rooted culture of religious and ethnic coexistence.
In the discussion, President Barzani spoke about the importance of peaceful dialogue in resolving regional conflicts. He specifically pointed to the peace process in Turkey involving Abdullah Öcalan, stressing that as long as pathways to peace remain open, the region must continue to reject war and conflict.
Looking ahead, President Barzani called for greater European support in advancing key sectors within the Kurdistan Region. He emphasised the need for cooperation in areas such as reform, reconstruction, education, agriculture, science, and technology to help build a stronger, more resilient future for the people of Kurdistan.
